  • Dream it.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

Bay Treatment Program

In 2008, the Lake Minnetonka Association initiated a Three Bay Eurasian watermilfoil control project under a Lake Vegetation Management Plan (LVMP).

The project initially involved Carmans, Grays and Phelps Bays and as of 2020, has expanded to include: Carsons/St. Louis Bay, Gideons Bay, Grays Bay, North Arm Bay, Crystal Bay, and Phelps Bay.

The Lake Minnetonka Association serves as program manager. We rely on Bay Captains to coordinate fundraising from affected lakeshore owners, who have contributed the major of funding for this project. Other funding partners have included the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and the Cities of Deephaven, Excelsior, Greenwood, Minnetrista, Mound, Orono, Shorewood, and Tonka Bay.

Also, St. Albans Bay and Carmans which were once part of the program have established a Lake Improvement District (LID), which provides funding to help control Aquatic invasive Species. The Bay Project has been highly successful and the Lake Minnetonka Association plans to continue the program.
